Can a ripped leather seat actually be repaired or is it replacement time?

I'm pretty gutted about what happened to my car's interior this weekend. I had a friend's kid in the back seat and they must have had something sharp in their pocket because when they got out, I noticed this nasty tear in the leather on the rear seat cushion that's about two inches long and clearly visible. The car is only a few years old and the interior was in really good condition before this happened, so I'm pretty annoyed that such a small thing has caused this much damage. I've been looking at replacement seat covers online and the prices are absolutely ridiculous, we're talking thousands of dirhams just for a single section which is way more than I want to spend. I've heard that leather repair is actually a thing where they can fill and dye the damaged area to make it look almost new again, but I'm not sure how well that actually works in practice or if it's just a temporary fix that'll look good for a few months and then crack or peel. I work in the industrial area so I'm hoping to find a place that offers genuine car upholstery repair in Musaffah because I figure the specialists in that area deal with this kind of work all the time. Has anyone here had a leather tear repaired successfully and can tell me whether it actually held up over time? I'd really like to avoid the cost of a full replacement if there's a good repair option available.
